Multi-Use Decal Plates

Pursuant to RSA 261:B, starting July 3rd, 2017, the NH DMV began offering our newest plate type, the Decal Plate. Decal plates resemble regular New Hampshire passenger license plate however, they include a 3"x3" blank square on the left side of the plate. This allows for the placement of a special decal issued by a 501(c)(3) organization authorized by legislature.  Legislatively authorized organizations may sell decals for a cost. Decals are NOT available at DMV locations, they have to be purchased directly from the legislatively authorized 501(c)(3) organizations.

Decals can only be placed on a Decal Plate. To transfer your existing passenger plate to a Decal Plate, please visit any of the DMV locations. To obtain a new Decal Plate, please visit your town or city clerk office.

Decal Plates are available for a $15 fee per year in addition to the town and state registration fees. Decal Vanity Plates are also available for an additional $40 vanity plate fee. An additional $8.00 plate manufacturing fee is only required in the first year of purchase.

Multi-Use Veterans Decal Plates

Pursuant to RSA 261-C, the NH DMV is also issuing Veteran Decal Plates. Veteran Decal Plates can only be issued to a motor vehicle registered pursuant to RSA 261:87-b. Similar to the Decal Plate, a Veteran Decal Plate includes a 3"x 3" blank square on the left side of the plate however it contains distinguishing veteran design. Veteran Decals are NOT available at DMV locations, they have to be purchased from the NH Office of Veteran Services. For more information, please call (603) 624-9230, Ext. 301. Please note that the NH Office of Veteran Services only accepts checks and money orders.

Decals are available only to those Veterans defined in RSA 21:50,I(a) for the following areas of service, pursuant to RSA 261-C:4(I):

• United States Army
• United States Navy
• United States Air Force
• United States Marine Corps
• United States Coast Guard

Decals are available for persons awarded Medals of Valor as follows (Pre-qualification is required. Please contact the NH Office of Veteran Services at (603) 624-9230, Ext. 301 prior to purchasing a Veteran Decal Plate).

• Distinguished Service Cross
• Navy Cross
• Air Force Cross
• Silver Star
• Bronze Star

Decals are available for eligible Gold Star Family members, pursuant to RSA 261-C:3-a.
